An isolated hillock is an unlikely address for an upmarket pub restaurant, but this revamped inn justifies the trek. Chef Matthew Tomkinson has built an ambitious British-French menu with some great touches and faultless mains

The Henley Standard
It was a truly lovely meal that was made doubly pleasurable by the standard of service and the extraordinary welcome we received. It has only been open four weeks and under new management at least, remains an undiscovered culinary pleasure that appears to be on its way to wider acclaim

Foodies Magazine
The restaurant itself is elegantly decorated as well as being light and spacious and when you visit the Goose you can expect a friendly yet professional service from restaurant managers Mary Reed and her team. With a beautiful restaurant and one of the country's top chefs you could be forgiven for thinking that you would have to pay top prices, not so.

Dorchester Evening News
The Goose has always been a nice place to go and after its refurbishment, even nicer. The main course for me was brilliant. Dessert at the Goose is always excellent; they usually offer a stunning set of sweets. The service with The Goose, overseen by Mary is always with a smile, and is pretty infallible. The décor - very pub chic - which I admire in a restaurant that serves haute cuisine.
